The Bloem is named after Bloemfontein the capital city of the Orange Free State province in South Africa. Bloemfontein directly translated from Afrikaans means flower fountain. Bloemfontein is popularly and poetically known as "the city of roses", for its abundance of these flowers and the annual rose festival held there. The city's Sesotho name is Mangaung, meaning "place of cheetahs".

These are brilliant! Perfect fit. I thought they’d have to ‘soften’ up to be comfortable, but not so! I wore them the first time for the whole day, no rubbing or discomfort, even when wearing them traditional South African style without socks!
Love the look of the boot, the colour, and also the quality of the manufacture. Only problem, for me, was that it rubbed painfully on my right ankle, so I trimmed the black leather piece inside the boot and it was a lot better. Maybe I just have a strange shaped ankle! Other than that, great.
