Frequently Asked Questions

Veldskoen literally means “Field Shoe” in Afrikaans; one of South Africa’s eleven National Languages. Finding it hard to say? Try, 'Felt-Schoon', or call them by the common abbreviation 'Vellies' [Fell-ease].

Veldskoen shoes are unisex and a have a wide fit. We recommend men order their usual US size, and women order one size smaller than their usual size. Unsure of your

It really depends on the person in the shoes. Some may find them comfy out the box, others may find it takes a about week of wear for them to conform and mould to your feet.

Veldskoen are made form 100% genuine African raw hide bovine leather. They are made from a mix of different leather compressed to form one piece, the same way they were made 100 years ago. In some cases, the hide may vary slightly from one shoe to the other, making each piece is 100% unique.

We advise using suede/nubuck cleaning products to clean your Veldskoen. Our favourite is the Spotless Range, we recommend the Spotless Shoe Cleaner for your Veldskoen suede leather shoes and the Spotless Leather Cream for your full grain leather shoes. Do not wash your Veldskoen with water, if they do get wet, let them dry naturally.

Veldskoen are ethically handcrafted by master craftsmen and woman in the Kwa-Zulu Natal region of South Africa.

For customers needing specialised arch support, we recommend using your own inserts or orthotics that you can insert into your pair of Veldskoen.

Yes, all Veldskoen shoes can be re-soled by a professional 3rd party cobbler. We do not offer this service.

Orders & Shipping

All orders are shipped with Australia post or Aramex couriers.All order updates are sent via email. Once your order is dispatched from our warehouse in NSW, you will receive tracking information via email from our online store. If you are having trouble with tracking your order, please contact us.

We ship to Australia and New Zealand via Australia Post and Aramex Couriers. For a list of global partners outside of Australia and New Zealand, contact Veldskoen South Africa

We don’t have a warranty; we stand behind our manufacturing. Please contact us for any quality concerns on a case-by-case basis.

If you have received your order and require changing sizes but time is an issue, and you need the correct size asap. We suggest requesting a refund when lodging your return at our returns and exchanges portal and ordering the correct size separately. This way you won’t have to wait for your original order to get back to our warehouse.
